What is screen printing?
Screen printing consists of five main elements: screen printing plate, squeegee, ink, printing table and substrate. Screen printing is commonly used in the field of bags, clothing, packaging and other industries.
There are two types of inks for screen printing are commonly used. They're water based inks and plastisol inks. But which one is the best? It depends on many factors, such as the fabrics, the design you'd like to print, etc.
What is the plastisol ink?
- Plastisol ink is made up PVC particles suspended in a liquid plasticizer. So compared to water-based ink, plastisol is more opaque and vibrant. It covers the products better, matting down fibers for a smooth, bright print.
- With plastisol ink, we can create special effects like suede, glow-in-the-dark, glitter, shimmer, or metallic. Plastisol is most commonly used on dark-colored fabrics, and it is ideal when printing designs that are less detailed and very colorful.
- With Plastisol inks, you are able to use a variety of different types of fabrics, other inks, and additives. Water-based ink is best suited for 100% cotton fabrics.
